Apologies if this is a silly question.

My one year old has started screeching very loudly every time she sees something that she wants (ie all day!)

Is this something I should be gently trying to discourage (how?) or should I just ignore as a phase that will pass?

Yep, DD screeched her way round Tesco, she screeched in the doctor's, everywhere. People thought she was being murdered!

Now she just yells. Screeching was better

Oh God starkadder my 21 month oold stil shouts 'DAT DAT DAT DAT DAT DAT DAT' all the time when he wants something, even though he has words he just does it out of habbit I think, I dirves me nuts!!! I'd just try the distraction with the screeching too, it will stop someday!!!

starkadder · 09/04/2009 21:12

haha! he has started to vary it a bit with "Dis" now (this), but pretty much DATDATDATDATDAT wins out...heheh - yep, ignore the screeching prob best policy..!

scrappydappydoo · 09/04/2009 21:24

She is just testing her voice (yep it works ). DD1 did grow out of it for awhile.. dd2 now does it and is normally encouraged by dd1 (who's 3 ) Joint screeching is joyous especially on a long journey....
