Is it normal for a 12 month old to want more sleep once they're walking?

dd has never been one for daytime naps, just twenty minutes here and there and didn't sleep through until 7 months. She's just turned one and has been walking for about 7 weeks.

Suddenly she seems to be sleeping loads, she had 13 hours last night 7:30pm til 8:30am, she went for a nap with no fuss at all (unheard of) at 11:30 and slept til 1:00. She's had lunch, played on her swing outside etc.

About fifteen minutes ago she started being grouchy and rubbing her eyes, so I put her in her sleeping bag in her cot and left her. Checked in after five minutes as all was quiet and she was awake but laying quietly cuddling her cuski, she didn't see me so I left the room and now I've heard nothing since.

Is it possible that she is getting more tired and is happy to have her naps now?

I know I shouldn't complain but this is all so different with no screaming or whinging etc.

IME a resounding YES!!!

And thank god for that... Learning to walk sorted all 3 of mine out, well, sleeping wise anyway. Lots of other ishooos remain ...

yes, ds still sleeps 14 or 15 hours a day at 18 months and he's been walking for 8 months now.
