Potty training - progress thread!

I'm sure I'm not the only parent battling to toilet train their toddler so how about a moral support & share your progress thread?

DS2 just turned 3 years old at the start of this month. We've had a few weeks of haphazardly attempting potty training and if he's in the mood, he's excellent with hardly any accidents but if he's not in the mood then that's that!

Today we have decided to get stuck in - he went to nursery this morning with pants on and has been dry all day with a couple of little damp accidents where he started to wee and then remembered he needed the toilet. He's at nursery again tomorrow and I have every faith that he'll be dry again there, but Wednesday he's at home with me and I think that's where we'll falter a little bit as there won't be the peer group thing going on.

So - what's your potty training story so far? And what do you plan to do to make this an easy ride?

My DS is 3.1 and has FINALLY decided to co=operate with potty training - has been in pants for 2 weeks - only 1 accident at home - he goes by himself and is practising standing up (Look mummy I weed on my hand!!!).
However, he will not use loo at nursery - either goes all day without going or wets his pants. I'm hoping that he might go standing up this week at nursery.

We have had lots of false starts - tried a few times and usually ended with lots of screaming - me and him - as he refused to sit on either loo or potty. But this time he decided he wanted to wear pants so I'm hoping this is it!

He is unsure about strange loos at other people's houses though so we're working on that.

DS is 3.2, hes finally decided he can do it, we've had 2 weeks of no accidents, but today is the first time hes pooed in a potty, he usually waits until i put a nappy on before bed.

Hopefully we've got there now.

Potty training is not fun!

Well, today we had some tears when he woke up and I told him to go to the loo but then he perked up and only had a small damp patch before he headed to nursery at 9am. Got there and he went straight to the toilet all by himself so we'll see how he's got on tonight.

It's tomorrow that will be interesting!

I agree blotted - tomorrow will be interesting for us too but the opposite reason - nursery tomorrow! He has said that he will wee standing up at nursery but I'm not too optinistic!

My dd is 2.7 and she recently decided to wear pants. She went from having never used the toilet in her life to having 3 days in a row where she had no accidents at all (days 3,4 and 5). However, she then got a bad foot infection and wasn't well so was back in nappies for a week.

She's better now but it's very hit or miss which is frustrating as she was doing so well and I know she can do it. I'm trying to be very patient

My DS hasn't tried standing up to pee yet, he's a bit wary of the big toilet at the house and I think it's a confidence thing. BUT! He had another mostly dry day at nursery today, another wee damp accident but that was it. He has been home for just over an hour and used the potty already. My concern now is that he hasn't pooed today or yesterday yet - I'm just hoping he's not holding on for a nappy!

monster - It's even better if she's made the decision to toilet train herself, especially with no accidents! I hope she gets back into the swing of it again.

ds1 is 2.8 and we've been halfheartedly giving it a go for a few days as he's grown out of his cloth nappies but not much luck.

dp is home on thursday for 4 days straight so we're going to give it a proper go then as it's hard for me juggling a new baby to bring him to the toilet as much as i should and/or clean up the mess. if he hasn't gotit by sunday we'll go back to pull ups and try again another time.

Blottedcopybook · 25/03/2009 21:58

Well today was an unmitigated failure, three pairs of wet pants by mid morning and back in pullups by late lunchtime. Ugh. Hopefully tomorrow will be better...
