maybe just try finger foods pitta ad humous toast cut up small pieces of fruit cut small

at this age there food intake is quite small its one tbsp per portion so a meal would only be 3 tbsp which isnt much anyway so could even be getting the recommended amount of food

also could he be teething my ds went right off his food when teething try yogurts or applying teething gel 10 mins before food

i did find my ds used to eat huge amounts of food over recommended amount and then got to similar age and appetite decreased alot i was panicking and then was reassured recommended amount is only 3tbsp per meal and then i was able to relax he just got to an awarenss when had enough also found he ate more on the verge of walking and then didn't seem to be needing as much food

best thing is to stay relaxed around food so it doesnt become a negative experience and just keep trying with different things whether meals or finger foods the daily amount of food isnt alot anyway we just tend to think it should be more

he just refuses all foods, tried just about everything the most he'll have in a day is one tiny nibble of a biscuit,

i guess if teething gel makes no difference then its just a phase and hope it rides out soon

just keep offering he wont starve they really do eat if really hungry just try teething gel before food gums may be hurting etc

My DS (18 months) did this to me last week and I could have died with worry, as he is thin already and I was worried he would starve. I went to the doctor when he had not eaten for a whole week and they were really nice. They said:

  • he's teething and it's very common not to want to eat then; just keep giving him milk and whatever else he wants if anything
  • as long as he is drinking then he is fine

I tried everything and he did eat some chocolate buttons and milk and that was it. Then suddenly after 8 days he decided to eat again and is now eating ludicrous amounts of food as if he needs to catch up with what he has missed! So don't stress, it will pass but do see your doctor if you are worried.
