Can a 6 month old have a temper?

a lady at my playgroup mentioned it when my daughter was having a bit of a scream up because I was taking away a toy from her that she couldn't play with. -I wasn't aware that young babies could learn such things as social manners and patience!
she might have said it flippantly but i'm starting to think now..! when do you start discouraging these things and how..?

At 6 months they have no understanding of why they can't have what they want, there's no point trying to get them to be patient for another year or two yet

i wouldnt consider that temper, frustration sounds more likely. but as amuminscotland says they dont understand at 6 months that they cant have everything they want, nor will they be able to for a good while. i wouldnt worry yourself at all about that lady's comment.

If she's recognising that something is being taken away from her at 6 months, that's a good sign in terms of her development, so you can just be pleased about that and ignore daft comments.

Just distract with something else, and that becomes easier as they get older.

ah yes, development ..well i'm feeling quite proud of her now!

I'll have to get used to the silly comments I expect and ignore em!
thanks all
