Can a 4mo baby get scared?

My ds is very nearly 4 months.

Today I was making silly faces and sort of quiet roaring noises to try and make him laugh and it had the opposite effect - he started SCREAMING as if in agony, exactly as he did when he had his jabs.

Could I have scared my baby or do you think it was more likely that he felt a sudden pain at the moment that I was playing with him?

TIA for any opinions.

Babies of any age can get scared. However I wouldn't worry I am sure your baby will get over it.

I scare my baby if I sneeze while I am feeding him. He jumps a mile and then makes a really sad upsetting cry.
I cuddle him till he stops but it is a different cry to usual. He is 11 weeks.

Thanks. missmama cuddles and feeding seem to work here too. I will remember not to do that again!
