VERY Independent 12 month old-Is this normal?

My Darling Son is VERY strong willed apparently. He doesn't like to go in the stroller/high chair/car seat and cries EVERY time we put him in either. And he refuses to take any food on a spoon- he has to have all finger foods. Plus he likes to be held constantly which I know is pretty normal for this age, but it is exhausting, isn't it?

My DD was much more easy going at this stage (unless I just have rose tinted spectacles!).

Does anyone else have the same sort of very 'determined' baby?

not any more. i have a very 'determined' 7yo. but i did have lol.

enjoy.

i've lost count of the number of people who have commented on how, um, determined he is.

my only word of advice is, pick your battles.

my dd2 was like this at the same age. She still is, now she's 4, a very independant, knows her own mind kind of child. She's always full of questions and has an answer to everything.

My dd1 was never like this she was quiet and obedient and much less work, lol

Dd2 is very determined and always on the go which is exhausting but she wouldn't be who she is if she were different.

Thanks for the advice and support.

Madwoman-I like the advice on picking your battles. This is good advice for the future if this is a sign of things to come!

Linnet-It's true to always remember that some children just are that way and that it's part of what makes them who they are. And helpful to see that yours is so inquisitive and interested in things and having an opinion which possibly goes along with being strong willed.

Oh, what fun years ahead!
