EEEK...toddler is chewing his cot rail.....

Help...my 18 month old has taken to chewing his cot...am worried about lead paint....it's a mamas and papas one, bought new 2 years ago- presume they no longer use lead based paint on such items, but can't find any info....anyone know.......also, how do i stop him........????????!!!!!!

They stopped using lead paint years ago so he'll be fine. As to stopping him, I don't think there's a lot you can do, most children do this I think.

thanks moshie...think he may chew his way out.....only noticed today- he has had a go at 2 bars....the wood cant be good for him....but nor can the other stuff he finds on the floors and eats......!

I had this problem with ds1 who did eat his way through the rail....I remember someone on MN suggested plastic cot rail protecters....

Yes the plastic cot rail protectors can be bought from the manufacturer. You can ring M&P and ask them to order you one from them.

My dd's cot came with the plastic protectors and they are great. She can chew as much as she likes!

btw. IKEA do teething rails. The make of them is 'NOGO' £2.99
