No. That's normal.

likessleep · 03/03/2009 16:00

ds didn't get his first tooth until 14mths! nothing to worry about at all and some say it they have healthier teeth as they aren't subject to all of the milk!

screamingabdab · 03/03/2009 19:19

No, my niece didn't get her first tooth til 11months

MrsMattie · 03/03/2009 19:20

My DS got his first tooth at 10 mths. Don't worry!

LolaLadybird · 03/03/2009 20:33

DD got her first tooth at 10 mths and they then came throught quite slowly (molars were still coming through age 2.5). DS is completely different - 15 mths and he has 8 teeth with another 3 big back ones hatching as I write ... so I don't think there is a 'normal'.

Enjoy the gumminess, it's v cute ...

8-10 months is average age for first tooth, some much earlier and some much later. My DS2 had his first tooth today and he is 9 months old.

homicidalmatriach · 03/03/2009 21:12

DD had eight teeth by 20 weeks, DS is nearly eight months and has none. Lucky of the draw. DS has many teeth prominent in his gums so I think they are going to stomp out all at once in one horrible week

ds1 first tooth at 14 months, ds2 first tooth at 12 months.

I've been told (don't know how true it is) that the later your teeth come in, the stronger they are. May be total rubbish. Although I got my first tooth at about a year and still have a baby tooth!! (am 33)

simpson · 03/03/2009 21:16

DD is 13mths and still no teeth, been drooling for ages too....

Her brother got his first at 14mths then fell and knocked it out!! So went back to zero again...

It is genetic. Nobody in my family gets teeth before 12 months. DD no exception.

They only start to look into it once they're 18 months with no teeth.

Theinvisiblemandidit - I have heard that too

Also means their adult teeth come in later and last longer

LuckySalem · 03/03/2009 21:49

I hate to say it but DD is 13 months and still no sign on teeth.

My HV said that if no teeth by 18 months they will get her x-rayed but not to worry as they'll come eventually.

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 03/03/2009 21:49

Well ds1 has just turned 9 and only has 2 big teeth...so hope it's true

Expectant · 05/03/2009 03:04

That's a relief. DS 7 months and no teeth when all his little friends have at least 2. One has been threatening for a very long time though. Then again I'm still holding on to a baby tooth (molar) at the ripe old age of 32 because there is no adult tooth to replace it

AussieSim · 05/03/2009 03:14

At the other end of the scale I have a friend whos daughter was born with teeth (apparently a 1 in 6000 chance)
