DD 2.2 has started sucking her food

She's always been a fantastic eater but in the last 10 days, she has started to eat less and less if the food is not smooth (yoghurt/purees). The problem is that she sucks her food so it obviously hard to swallow. She then keeps mouthful of the food is her mouth until we get her to spit it.
We try not to make a fuss, we don't offer anything else if she doesn't eat her meal and she doesn't snack at all.
Is this a phase? Has anybody's DC went through something like this?

Could she be getting her 2 year molars through and therefore experiencing pain when eating?
My DD is 2.3. She has her bottom 2 molars just coming through and often complains about it at meal times.
