9 weeks old - should I be concerned by this?

Hi

My DD2 is nearly 9 weeks & I'm a bit worried.
She doesn't really smile or look me in the eye. Instead she tends to look above me (as if looking at the top of my head). She was 3 weeks early, hardly opened her eyes for 2 weeks & when you could see in her eyes they were all bloodshot.

The Dr's have checked her eyes & said that they respond to the light.

What do you reckon - is she just a bit behind in focusing or could it be something more serious?

I wouldn't be that worried - I don't remember dd focusing on much til about 3 months... and its only really now (8 months) that I think I can definitely she really knows her mum and dad.

Mine was 11 weeks, your baby is FINE, just relax.

I used to worry about this because all the baby books told me that my baby would be gazing lovingly into my eyes, when actually it seemed like his gaze was always sliding off to the side... Much later, I read somewhere that very young babies do look at the edge of your face - the side or the top or whatever - because their eyesight is not that great yet and the contrast between your head and the rest of the room is quite easy to see. So, completely normal, basically.
