Could you cut her hair short until she loses the habit?

[whispers] have you thought about a night time dummy? I know it sounds like a terrible idea but could save the hair at night? A friend?s little one sucked her thumb at night and with her finger sticking up alonside her nose would do a funny face scratching thing, making a whole strip of skin raw and even got infected round Christmas. Her hv suggested a dummy just for night and it has worked a treat. Just a thought if you can?t think of anything else.

Our daughter (21 months) also has this habit - to stop it at night I sewed fleece mittens to her pyjama tops. She was pulling out a lot of hair prior to this and it stopped her from doing it at night. She was younger than your daughter when she started pulling her hair out so I'm not sure if your daughter would be okay with the mittens. Our daughter doesn't mind them at all though.
She seems to like them!
I try not to make too much of it when I see her doing it - I just try to distract her and she is doing it a lot less now.
I think it is a comfort thing for them - try not to worry too much about it, as I am pretty sure she will grow out of it.
