When can they start toddling outside?

DD has been walking indoors for about three weeks.

When do I get her feet measured and buy her her first pair of shoes so she can toddling outdoors?

I think with ds, there wasn't much of a gap between him walking indoors and outdors..

It is so sweet when you see them toddling around on the grass or along the pavement.

as soon as they start walking
go to the park and let him wadle about and fall over

Oh I cant wait till she gets her shoes. I still get a shock indoors when I turn around and shes toddling behind me

dd2 has only been toddling about 3 months and already toddles all the way to the shop and back with me. And her nana's house.

She gets very annoyed now when she sees her buggy.

Anytime soon, I'd say. Ds started walking about a month ago, and I bought his first pair of shoes (cruisers which apparently are a bit softer than other shoes but you can still go outside in them) a few days later. We were in a hurry to get him outside so he could start to enjoy being at the playpark with dd instead of just getting bored in his buggy. So I'd say, go for it.

I've just ordered a pair of cruisers so as soon as they come, she'll be off!

Thanks everyone

I was told in clarks that the cruisers were a waste of money if your child is learning to walk indoors and that you should get first shoes when they have been walking on their own for 4-6 weeks. Our dd has been walking about 7-8weeks now and this week has been walking from car to house and to local shop, but takes forever as has to stop and touch every wall/lampost/gate etc

What about wellies for outdoors? they are so cute in dinky sizes and toddler can explore more.

SweetCheeksLovesSweetTalk · 22/02/2009 22:56

These are leather inch blues alicecrail so they are ok to walk outside in

Have you got outdoor green space? Why not just open the door and let her feel grass on her feet?

plonker · 22/02/2009 23:32

No need to wait, just let her go

Make sure she has long trousers on though as she might will fall over a bit lot

noramum · 23/02/2009 16:00

We used inch blues for appr. 4 weeks then it got too wet for them and we bought start-rite cruisers.

Walkers are far too hard for a starter.

Just remember they need to have their feet re-measured every 6-8 weeks.

DD was toddling outside from the outset, as soon as she was toddling inside. She'd been cruising for quite a long time beforehand too both inside and out.

I had her measured for shoes (2.5F ) once she was walking and off she went.
