Toddler with very little hair - is this normal?

I have a 17 month old DS who are still got very little hair. He was born with no hair (except for a really fetching old-man bit right at the back of his head) and 17 months on, it is still not great. Put it this way, I don't have to worry about washing it/getting tugs out of it/his first haircut anytime soon. He has some hair, but you can still clearly see his scalp and what he has is definitely 'wispy'. I know that in the grand scheme of things, I shouldn't be worried but does anyone want to tell me that they went through the same thing and now have an older child with a full head of hair??

Well, ds is 2.5 and only needed his first haircut last week. He has quite thick hair now, from his mummy's side, natch.
I alos have friend with a wee girl who was pretty much bald until she was ds's age.

My DS1 had his first major haircut at 4/5, and when I cut the long curly baby bit at the back there was absolutely nothing underneath it, so he had to have a pudding basin effect It was very soft and vispy until he was much older, now he is 11 it's thick and wiry. DS1 & 2 both hardly had any hair until well after 2, DS2 is 5 now and he has masses of thick curls, DS3 has loads and he is 19m.

Reality, she is so gorgeous! Will stop worrying.

dd1 was bald till 18 months then it grew so fair and wispy, she still looked bald at 2.5

dd2 was totally bald till about 2. Even now, she only has shoulder length hair and it has never been cut (well, trimmed a bit to neaten it up but not cut cut)

ds was born with loads of hair and has had about five haircuts already.

Don't worry about it, it's perfectly normal.
