6 week old...screams blue murder if I leave her...

...Hi all
I have a 6 week old DD. She is a dream, only cries if something is wrong as a rule, and eats well from me, or from bottle.

Yday I had to go out for 3 hours and left her with her Daddy. He had bottles which she took, she winded, but then she basically screamed until she was purple until I came home. When I picked her up, she immediately quietened.

I guess it is inevitable that she will be moer attached to me when her daddy is at work all day, but how can I help her feel comfortable to be left?

Thanks everyone. xx

she is so so little and hre attatchment to you is huge, she has known you a lot longer than 6 weeks, she has heard your voice whilst in the womb. She will get better but maybe leave her shorter times and let your dp have her in the house on his own and you have a leisurley bath and if she cries he can bring her in and she will learn you are still nearby.

was the bottle of bm or formula? could it have upset her tummy?

I think she'll get better with time - 6 weeks old is teeny tiny and my baby didn't like me not being around at that age. He's 14 weeks today and a bit better! They just get better with age imo

it was breast milk that I lovingly expressed!

i guess i just wanted to check that i hadnt done somethng wrong. sounds like this is an inevitable prob though.

thanks

Common for 6 week olds to act this way, its a developmental thing and nothing you are doing. Please don't blame your breast milk. This phase usually passes by the time they are 4-5mths old. Hang on in there.

As a Dad, something I used to love about being on my own with my sons when they were very small babies was that I got chance to carry them around on my front facing me in one of those baby carriers for hours.

I particularly used to do this in the house when my wife went out. I culd sit at the computer, make myself a sandwich or watch TV and stil be very close to them and talk to them as well. Mostly they used to just sleep.

Maybe your husband might want to do this next time. It would be good for him as he could get a bit of other stuff done while being very close to the baby.

I cannot remember the name of the baby carrier thing now but I am sure you know what I mean. I used to have to be careful about not getting them too hot near my body in the house though.
