Can anyone tell me how much and when a three week old should sleep? My dd is sleeping for very long periods during the day, only waking to feed sometimes, is this ok or should I wake her?

Thanks lulabellarama, it is great to get some reassurance as we are so new at this! She seems to wake a lot more frequently during the night though (every two hours after an initial 3-4 hour sleep) - is it too early to worry about her having her days and nights mixed up?

Congratulations!!Make the most of the sleepy days because they don't last long! Seriously though, they sleep most of the day at that age so let her sleep and just wake her for feeds - 3 hourly at the mo and then increasing to every four hours over the next few weeks (I did this with both of mine and it worked really well- although I do appreciate the advantages of demand feeding). Don't worry about "stimulating them". Although I am not an advocate of REALLY strict routine, from the beginning, I started bathing at 6.00 pm and then giving bottle before bed which seems to relax them.
