Why wont DD eat meat?

DD is 14 months old and is really turning her nose up at meat. I'm not sure if this is normal for her age or not! DP has been raised a veggie and has never eaten meat in his life whereas i love it! It does make me wonder if perhaps she will never eat meat and takes after DP lol. Mostly she will always try it but then when it's in her mouth she'll just go "eeeuugh" and spit it out again.

Should i just keep perservering or give in and just give her veggies etc. I'm a bit worried about giving her soya/tofu based products (i.e. chicken style pieces, bacon style rashers, etc etc etc) because i think they might contain too much salt.

Any views/opinions would be very handy!

TIA

she doesnt need meat.my ds2 is perfectly healthy veggie.look on vegan and vegetarian society websites for ideas.its not all soya and tofu!

Tofu itself is not too salty,my dds love it in a stirfry.Eggs, cheese, etc all have plenty of protein.Pulses like lentils and chickpeas go down well with my dds.Or maybe she would like some fish, salmon fishcakes etc?She can thrive happily on no meat.

Thanx nancy - i was hoping that was the case.

Cheesesarnie - lol i know it's not all soya and tofu but DP has a lot of "meat style" substitutes, so e.g. if i'm cooking a chicken curry, he'll want a "chicken style pieces" curry etc.

Helly - i've tried her on some cod fishcakes tonight and she did eat quite a bit of it. DP hates her eating fish tho because it makes him feels sick .

She does eat well on everything else and loves her fruit. I know she will be ok without meat but i just thought she might like it!

DD nearly 13 months spits meat out as well but I didn't really twig until I read this thread. She'd better get over it or she'll starve in this house. Veggies we ain't
