"Mummy" "Daddy" Confusion??

Hi there,

I have 23 month old boy/girl twins. My son still calls me "Daddy". Have any of your children ever done this at this age? If so, what age did they finally use the correct label? Should I be worried that he doesn't "get it"?

Thanks so much for your input!

Roxanne

i wouldn't worry but maybe you can play a game point at daddy and say who's this and then point at yourself and say mummy try and get him to copy im mummy that's daddy then say his name make it a game to correct him

i wouldn't worry too much though maybe you haven't corrected him when his said it or its easier for him to say my ds will sometimes call daddy mummy as its easier as his so used to saying it all the time but my partner laughs and says no who am i and he'll say daddy and laugh

Mine are 11 and 7 and still get it mixed up I just say I am the one with the boobs! I think it happens when both parents do a lot for them. It's quite a nice sign of equality in the household, IMO.

My ds is 18m and calls me dada. He know's who his dad is, if you ask him where's daddy? he'll search the flat until he finds him, but if someone points at me and says who's that? ds will say dada .

My nearly 6 year old still says "mummy/Daddy" randomly until he gets an answer.
