DD (2.3) has started biting her nails-what to do to discourage this?

Can't believe DD has started to bite her nails already - think it started when she had her fingers in her mouth a couple of weeks ago when she was teething, and then she discovered the delights of biting her nails. Now I really don't want her to do this all the time, so how do I discourage this?

I'm using the distraction technique at the moment - has anyone got any suggestions or can tell me what worked for them?

Thanks

Hi I've not been through this personally but my DD loves having her toenails painted! So I use this as a treat etc..maybe it could work as a bribe to stop your DD biting her finger nails? Good luck

Thanks Guineamango, I'll think about using that as a technique.

My DD started this about the same age and we used the nail varnish idea too, it didn't really work. In the end we just ignored her, made no comments when she did it (which was virtually all the time at one point)and eventually she stopped on her own.

DD did this at the same age, then started asking to bite my nails then stopped of her own accord and now chews her hair.
