ds, 2.7, extremely shy, clingy, developmentally delayed - what to do about playgroup/nursery?

Theoretically he could start now. I took him today, but stayed with him. He did enjoy being with the other children and joined in with some activities, but did not want any adults near him (this is typical for him, he is very wary of adults, prob because of all the medical people who've poked him over the years) and got upset at some "little" things - like the door being shut.

So what is the way forward? I thought I'd take him in once a week and stay with him, but it's a fine balance between settling him in and giving him the impression that I'll always be around.

Any thoughts/advice?

Keep going with him, and then gradually disappear for 5 mins at a time and then build it up so that he is confident that you are going to come back had a sneaky peak at your profile, he is gorgeous )
