I nannied for twins of about this age for six months.

Eating habits varied dramatically during that time.

I think this was down to a few things.

Firstly they were cutting teeth and so perhaps eating certain foods was more soothing than eating others.

Secondly as they'd begun to taste lots of different things they had an idea of what they "liked" and weren't so keen on. This was necessarily sweet stuff IME, but I think they were just getting more choosey.

The easiest way I found to overcome it was by offering lots of little bits at one meal and seeing what went down best. Then tried to introduce similar stuff and build it up that way. Re tried things the following week.

Good luck!!

My DD is 12 months. At 6 months she would try anything, by about 9/10 months she had got choosier and yes, she wanted to feed herself! For example, she will no longer eat carrot, banana or brocolli (all things that she seemed to like previously)

If it is "just" teeth try soft foods, fromage frais etc. My DD will always eat these, even if she is ill.

I found that DD was affected by teeth, being choosy and wanting to feed herself (simple SimpleasABC says). I always now let DD have her own spoon to hold if i am trying to spoon feed her, or I stick to things she can feed herself (I try this with most foods now). She can only do it using her hands, and its very messy but its what she enjoys doing.

i definately had the same!!! my ds (9 months now) was teething early on and had a month or poor eating. every time teeth happen he goes off food. i used to stress out soooo much but try your best to keep calm and dont make it an issue. And rememeber- food under one is for fun. milk is the most important thing so as long as he is drinking , that is fine (enough nutrients). Also, Try give toast fingers and more finger foods.
good luck!!

thanks everyone this is really helpful. He is drinking more milk at moment. Last night fed himself his main course and then ate a pudding fed by me for the first time in a month! Then this am let me feed him all his cereal and ate his toast afterwards! Love them hey never a dull moment! Thanks for all your support it makes me feel much better and not stressed about it any more.
