Separation Anxiety from his CM??

Also posted in the CM/Nursery forum......

Returned to work just over 3 months ago and my DS goes to his childminder 4 days a week (8-6). He seems happy there and gives her a nice welcome when we drop him off. Recently, whenever we come to pick him up she tells me that he is suffering separation anxiety FROM HER??? Things like he wont be by himself when they go to group or soft play, but he's not like this with me. AIBU to be a little concerned/annoyed/confused about this - seems strange that he acts differently in the different settings or is this totally normal??

I had exactly this with my DS. He was very clingy with his cm and not at all at home. It did pass. A couple of things that helped were letting him take his favourite dolly with him, and the cm giving him something to "look after" when she left the room at soft play, so that he knew she was coming back to get it. I think it's pretty normal, and it's good that he is attached to his cm

I had the same thing. My DS used to be very very clingy with me and screamed blue murder when I left his side but then this eventually passed. However, even though it was over for me it started up again with his CM. I suppose it is all about them building up trust with different people and having the confidence in them that they will return once they've left the room.

Very normal I think, just part of their development and some babies are more sensitive than others.
