i have 2.6 and 9 week ds's and i need to try to distract him from the tele after tea as he keeps waking up screaming after a few hours of sleep saying he wants to go down to watch tele even though i tell him the teles asleep and no progs on. since i got heavily pg and ds2 born i have left tele on as it was easier for me as dh works away so i have to deal with it on y own.It is hard as other than the tele he wants me to do whatever it is he is doing with him which is v hard when i have a poorley 9 week old. play doh/drawing he wants me to do, playing with his toys is odd as he sits on floor and then wants tele on and gets bored with toys. Anyway i need a 'wind down' activity before his bath but cant think what else to try? Need to break a bad habit we've got into as he watches too much tele.

how about a cuddle and some songs? children do not amuse themselves, they need lots of positive adult interaction. Why not involve him in looking after the baby?

Can you cuddle up on the sofa with him and read some books?
