Gah DD hasn't had a lunchtime nap for 2 days and its becoming increasingly likely that its not just a one off!

DS didn't stop daytime naps untill he was 2!

my dd did! except if I went for a walk or a drive after lunch

SmallShips · 21/01/2009 12:40

Oh bugger, i liked her afternoon nap.

Went out with her in her sling earlier and she was yawning away, came home, fed her and put her down in her cot and she started screaming.

My DD is 12 months. Last week she refused to nap at lunch if I had given her a morning nap.

This week (thank god!!) she is napping again, half an hour in the morning and an hour and a half ish at lunch.

Does your DS have a morning sleep? Mumsnet advice for me was to keep her awake in the morning and that did the trick for a couple of days and now she is back to 2 naps. She seems to have changed her attitude to day sleeps.

Twims · 21/01/2009 13:36

They tend to drop 1 nap mainly the morning nap at around 1 - but they still need a good -2 hours sleep during the day.

pamelat · 21/01/2009 13:40

My DD is very grumpy if she does not get a minimum of 2 hours in the day. Like I say, she has just turned 12 months.

Last week I even resorted to the car again to get her to sleep but fingers crossed its all ok now.

SmallShips · 21/01/2009 13:42

She only has the one nap at lunchtime, about 2 hours. She is really grumpy, she needs the sleep, just tried to put her down again, it goes quiet for about 5 minutes and then the screaming starts again.

Dd is 3.5 and is currently asleep. She loves a nap!

My 21m old goes through phases. I always put her to bed and sometimes I know she hasn't slept but after playing very quietly in the dark for a hour (or two, depends how good MN is that day!) I get her up again but never comment on the fact that she hadn't slept. The worst is when she's overtired and screams at being put to bed, but I know she needs the sleep, or at very least the break from stimuli, so I persist. Dd stopped her morning nap at 11months and has only had the 2 hours after lunch each day since then apart from the very rare snooze in the car seat.
They really do go through phases, so don't worry, I'm sure normal service will resume soon!

NimChimpsky · 21/01/2009 14:15

My dd dropped the morning nap before 12 months and hasn't napped at all since 14 months.

SpookyMadMummy · 21/01/2009 14:36

Dd1 was 3 1/2 before she gave up her 2 - 3 hour nap! And Dd2 was about 18 months and stopped sleeping in the daytime altogether.
