Could he be waking for a feed?

Does he nap ok in the day? Sometimes this is a result of being overtired when they go to sleep - so they wake up screaming...

Is it always exactly the same time? I've heard very good things about a method called 'wake to sleep' which seems to be just stirring the child an hour before he would normally wake. The theory is that it breaks the pattern of habitual waking.

My DD wakes at random times so I've not been able to try it myself, but apparently it's very successful. I think there is quite a bit on it in the archives.

I too have the same problem. My 8 month old wakes at about 11 pm religiously and I cannot get him back to sleep for love or money. He goes down ok for his sleeps and naps by himself no problem but he will not re settle at 11pm. He is currently getting his top three teeth all coming through at once but we give him medicine/ and even have tried Medised and he still howls for about an hour or two. Last nighht I held him, rocked walked about the house with him even gave him milk . He finally fell asleep in my arms around 1.30am . I am dreading tonight so too would welcom any other suggestions .
