DD1 is 9 1/2. Over the last few weeks, I do not seem to recognise her. She has lost concentration on her school work, she is not edgy as such but seems a bit lost and moody is it hormones? How do you deal with the overnight personality change?

Girls brains start rewiring at that age, so not just hormones but it is the start of teenage behaviour. The use the amygdila (sp) while the frontal lobe is rewiring.

Any tips? I am particularely worried about the lack of concentration, she is a bright girl in the top group for everything at the moment, but if it carries on like this 9 forget what homework she has to do, does not want to learn her spellings with desastrous results, forgets to give completed homework back...) she will go down fast and loose confidence in herself.

I have asked her how things are in school and she seems happy enough although she does comes back with more "it is so unfair" than usual! All seems fine on the friendships front so far!
