9 month old won't put things in her mouth

She went through a short phase around 5-6 months of putting things in her mouth (like babies are meant to !) and then stopped completely. What I'm struggling with at the moment is to get her to try and pick up finger food and put it in her mouth. She will pick up the food, squash it, play with it etc, but won't put it in her mouth. I think this is more linked to the fact that she doesn't put anything in there, not that she doesn't like food. She will eat finger food, when I give it to her and is a good eater in general just not by herself, no matter how much I try and get her to copy me etc.
Is anyone elses DC like this ?

Yes,my ds was like this and it took him until he was well over 1 to get finger food into his mouth.

He has allergies and I wonder if this was nature's way of protecting him.

Ds is 6 now and perfectly normally developing, doing very well at school.

So do not worry Podster.
