Commando crawling making his arms bleed - help!

My DS has just started commando crawling (it's very cute! ), but I noticed yesterday that he's rubbing his forearms red raw from dragging himself along on our unforgiving carpet. Today I lifted him up and there was blood all down his arm and all over his babygro - he had actually made himself bleed from the crawling .

What on earth do I do?

He wears long sleeved clothes but of course the sleeves just get pushed down. Some people have recommended cream but he's just going to rub that straight off.

Loads of babies commando crawl so this can't be an unusual problem. It's not bothering him (he doesn't cry) but it's obviously not good.

Thank you.

Try snipping the toe off a pair of small socks and making a thumb hole and pulling them on over his sleeves?

Thanks MatNan - he's crawling around with socks on his arms now and they seem to be working a treat!

Glad it is working for him.

I find socks have many uses

Met up with my NCT friends today and they were all v impressed with your suggestion!

DS's arms are now looking much less red, just a bit dry, but healing nicely. You're a star!

Glad he is doing well, some olive oil or nipple cream will help moisturise his arms.

LOL at socks and nipple cream on crawling baby! Glad you solved the problem though.

Have some lansinoh, will give that a go to soften his arms - Hopefully, he does look quite comic but I think it's a look that could catch on!
