Hi there,
My 22 month old son has become so jealous of our 4 month old daughter - he was fine when we first came home from hospital but now he realises she is here to stay he has become very naughty - he smacks her in the face and pokes her in the eye and seems to think it is all very funny - I don't know how to deal with this. Does anyone else have this problem?

My 2 year old took about 8 weeks to realise DS was here to stay and then her behaviour became unbearable. IIRC it lasted a couple of months then died down to the occasional expression of jelousy. Now they are 2 and 4 and get on great in fact DS is more likely to be jelous of DD these days as hes a bit of a mummys boy. Hang in there, it does pass. I just tried not too make too much of the bad behaviour and get as much chance as poss to spend nice times with DD. I know its difficult when you have a baby though!

My son was just the same when DD came along, i found it very upsetting.
He went from being a little sweet boy to a baby bashing monster!!!!
But the good thing is that it does not last , he now says "I love I can we keep her"
You need to make sure that you do not leave them alone together, I even had a baby chair in the bath room so i could take her with me, also got a baby pen, cheap on ebay, so she had a safe haven.
good luck

Thanks for this. I must admit - I do find it so upsetting - especially the fact that he thinks his bad behaviour is so funny - I think I am especailly protective as she was 6 weeks premature. Will keep my fingers crossed that things will improve
