10 week old only seems to have a decent sleep on his tummy - what do I do?

My DS2 is 10 weeks old and if he sleeps on his back then he has very fitful sleeps - waking every 40 mins etc.

This used to be only in the day but now it is creeping into his night time sleep.

In desperation he settles on his tummy straightaway and always has a much deeper and longer sleep - he sleeps through noises etc better.

Does anyone have any tips for resolving this - I really hate leaving him on his tummy for obvious reasons (risks of SIDS)

any help would be very gratefully received.

Thanks

Swaddling never worked for my dd, on her tummy worked like a dream. I had a list of all the countries that don't discourage sleeping on tummies and that gave me the confidence to keep going. I had no hassle from the health visitor when I spoke to her about it...that was also a huge boost - but then she was a very experienced, older HV.

I used to let DS fall asleep on his tum then roll him over.

He is now 2 and still likes to sleep on his tummy with his bum in the air.

we used to swaddle DS and put him on slightly on his side, somehow it just felt right.. and he slept well.
