Does my 2.8 year old need someone to play with?

We've recently moved and it's taking a while to meet anyone.

Dd hasn't had anyone to play with (apart from her 8 month old brother) for about 3 weeks. Is that okay? She had lots of friends at home, but didn't always particularly enjoy playing with them. Racing around outside was usually a good bet, and lots of fun with some friends. Sharing toys and playing together more hit and miss. They don't particularly play together at this age do they? Although, she was starting to really enjoy playing with some of her friends before we left...

She's having a lovely and very complicated game with her imaginary friend Blossom while I type this.

Should I go and hang around a playground and hope she bumps in to a similar aged child?

Are there any mumsnetters in your area? Think it's a good idea for DD to have someone to play with, but also some company for you too. She'll be coming up to the age where they do share much more easily.

You could also try mother and toddler groups, music classes, swimming lessons etc.

Will she be starting playgroup soon? That is where she'll meet some new friends in the area.

At 2.8 I would'nt worry too much.

Am looking into playgroups, but that won't be for a few months yet.

Will also have a look at joining something.

Lol @ company for me. You mean that having no one but an 8 month old and a 2 year old isn't good for my mental wellbeing?

Have a look around at the local M & T groups, that should keep your DD mixing until playgroup.

Good luck
