My daughter is 2 years 2 mths and seems very reluctent to have her aftenoon nap. If she does have one she isn't ready for bed until at least 8pm. Isn't she to young to drop her afternoon nap?

no
my dd dropped hers at 2 years

pamelat · 23/12/2008 20:04

do you mean the lunch one or the 430/5pm ish one?

tassisssss · 23/12/2008 20:05

I'd say this is kind of average, sorry. Thankfully ds continued his until her was 3 and dd at 2.3 looks like hers might continue for a while...

CoteDAzur · 23/12/2008 20:06

DD dropped hers before 2 years. 1.10 or so, I think.

notbusta · 23/12/2008 20:08

You might find she drops them but still has a catch up nap once or twice a week (DS does and he's 3!)

Fleecy · 23/12/2008 20:08

I had this with DD recently - she's 2.3. But she still has one some days. So she might drop her nap 2/3 days but nap the other 4/5. So you might find giving her the odd day without one means you'll still have one most of the time!

Fleecy · 23/12/2008 20:09

cross posts - sorry!

My DD is dropping her nap at 21mo . She will nap in her cot once or twice a week, but otherwise will only nap in a moving buggy.

Molliesmum · 23/12/2008 20:13

Thanks, it seems I will have to learn to live without my time in the afternoon aaargh! Thanks fo the advice everyone!

Molliesmum you can come and mourn the loss of afternoon sleep with me, DS 2.3 and dropped his. The days are getting longer and harder!

llareggub · 23/12/2008 20:36

I run DS (2.2) to exhaustion every morning for this very reason. It gives me at least 1 and half hours mumsnetting rest a day.

Clayhead · 23/12/2008 20:38

In this unfortunate household all naps were dropped at around 20 months...

IAmTheNewQueenOfMN · 23/12/2008 20:40

gecko is 22 months and I##m havin trouble getting her to sleep beofre 9 if she has a bnap

but I really cant cope without that time i the afternoon

Clayhead · 23/12/2008 20:43

My friend's kids all had two hour afternoon naps until they were about 3. I was so and still feel a bit that way now several years on!

ohreindeerwhatamessysleigh · 23/12/2008 20:54

Ds1 dropped his at 2.7 years with no warning at all.

He had one this afternoon though (first for a month) after a busy and exciting trip to London - it was wonderful!

bodiddly · 23/12/2008 21:08

ds is 3.10 and he still has a nap when he is home. I try to get him to have one at weekends at least ... he was off sick last week and slept every day for 2 hours ... he still went to bed at 6.30pm!

popsycal · 23/12/2008 21:10

ds1 was still having a nap when he started reception aged 4 years 1 month
ds2 is 4 in march and i cant remember when he had a regular nap - probably nearly 2 years - but once every few weelks he will have one
