DD1 who is 3.8yr has delayed speech. She started nursery in September and seems to be catching up with other kids but nursery have asked to refer her for speech therapy assessment to check her development. In the last couple of weeks she has started counting to 5 and can name colors correctly most of the time so we have not been too worried as we have also noticed an improvement in her speech at home. She had an appointment with a speech therapist when she was 2.0yr who thought her problem was due to a short attention span and would improve when she started nursery. I briefly spoke to my HV about DD1 when I was at the clinic with DS and she said not to worry as nursery send through a lot of referals that lead to nothing but I could try giving her fish oils to help with development in the meantime. She said she'd heard good things about Eye Q but thinks they are pretty much all same. From what I can tell from previous posts Eye Q may be too high in Omega 6.

Does anyone have any experience of giving fish oils for speech development? Is it best to opt for Eye Q or are Haliborange or Boots own etc just as good or better?

TIA

no. Cheaper brand = poorer quality and may not have heavy metals removed.

Go for the best you can afford. Eye Q is good.
Nordic naturals are better.
Definately does help.
My DS2 lost speech and only when we introduced these did he start forming words again at age four.

Ds1 (3.9yrs) has delayed speech, and has been attending therapy sessions.

The therapist has never once mentioned him taking any vitamin supplement. She's given is plenty of homework though, which has really helped.

I would def go back to the HV, as mine was the one that arranged the referral.

Think I'll give Eye Q a go for ds1
