DS1 DRIVING ME MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DS1 4.3 has to be entertained all the time, it is very very rare that he will play on his own. take now for example, i have told him to play for half and hour while i do some ironing, i got out and set up his pla mobile pirate ship with millions of bits and that kept him happy for maybe 5 mins, since then he has been laying on the sofa with the clock in front of him waiting for the big had to get to the bottom .

I am at my wits end with this kind of behaviour - WHAT DO I DO?? PLEASE HELP.

Just replied to similar thread. I wish I knew the answer because dd (3.5) is driving us nuts and there's still a lot of holiday left.

If I try to do soemthing else she either hangs onto me or lies on the sofa sucking her thumb and calling out 'Play with me'. I think some kids are just like this.

Can you borrow some kids? We've got some coming tomorrow - thank goodness - then it's just us again until NY

I can't add much to this either. My DS1 is VERY demanding and at times seems to be completely unable to entertain himself. He's now 6 and the only thing that makes a difference is when he has friends over.

His younger brother is now of an age to play with him which sometimes works but at other times DS1 just seems to pick on him and push him around which drives me NUTS.

Just know that you are not alone in your frustration!

I sometimes wonder if I should have spent less time playing with him when he was younger - maybe I just made a rod for my own back...

..and they manage to make you feel so guilty don't they. i really don't get a minute that is not entertaining him or doing chores. DS2 is 1 and he entertains himself no probs, but then again so did DS1 at that age

I have friends over every day for my DD (9). Their parents think I am mad to invite a child to play for a whole day, but I am really bringing them in as unpaid entertainment. I must say however .... there are some friends I would not invite!!!!

My 8 year is still like this!!

HSMM has a good solution. Friends always ease the pressure somewhat.
