DS 15 months headbanging the floor. Very worried

Whenever my little boy is angry, frustrated or just doesn't get his own way he violently smashes his head on the floor. I know this is common but I don't know how to handle it. He has a big bruise on his forhead now, and I'm finding it very upsetting

Any advise welcome. He has been ill recently which I think started it off, high temp, in a lot of distress, think it was a reaction to mmr (which he had a bit late)

Any similar axpreiences? Help

Could you move him to a soft place when he gets into that state?

You could hold him firmly in your lap?

You could put him in his cot.

I think those might work, trouble is, it happens so frequently, he is very demanding at the moment and if I don't give him what he wants he goes into melt down, like if I don't pick him up or he doesn't get to snatch a toy that he wants from his sister or even if it takes me a minute to sort his milk out, it's like he has no patience. He's a very strong boy, obviously at a very frustrating stage in his life, just want to help him

Ouch, my ds is the same age and also prone to proper tantrums when he can't get his own way - which is quite a lot at the moment.

My friends dd who is the same age started head banging a while ago 9 she threw herself backwards straight onto the floor - really alarming. Her mum tried not to pander to it too much and it stopped after a month.

I used to put my ds in his cot until he had calmed down when he used to do this. There is less to hurt himself on. He used to end up with bruises, and it did upset me. He eventually grew out of it - although can still paddy for England.
