Does anyone know what age you can tell whether a child will be left or right handed?

I think there is a wide range: ds is 5 and still uses both hands to draw/write, but dd is 2 and settled on her right hand a long time ago.

I think that the generally accepted (so oft parroted) theory is 4ish. But ds1 has been left handed from the first time he ever reached to grab anything, rolled over, picked up stuff, ate, held pen. You name it. He also kicks left footed too. He's 3.5 now and shows no sign of changing, so IMO, as with all generalisations, there are exceptions. HTH

DS started with his left hand but I can't recall the exact age - he's still LHed by the way.
On the other hand, my mum told me that I started writing/scribbling etc with my left hand but was right-handed by the time I started school (and I can still write with both hands).
