How far back can your 3 year olds remember?

Curious about this as mine remembered something really quite insignificant today that was 15 months ago and definitely hasn't been mentioned for over a year. He's often remembering stuff a long way back.
Do they all do this as I for some reason expected they'd only manage maybe a few months at this age.

ooh mine has a memory like an elephant. he reminded me he'd had a polar bear advent calendar last year with chocolate in it.
annoying as I was planning on a non-choc one this year lol

he amazes me with the stuff he comes out with,

My daughter is nearly 4 and can't remember what she had for lunch.
