I am concerned that my 2 and half week old baby does not look in my direction, even if i am right in front of him! Also at times he is slightly crossed eyed.Is this normal?

it sounds normal to me - don't worry - 2.5 weeks is still very young! Does your baby react to light ok? Have the midwives/hvs had any concerns? take him to your local baby clinic if you need your mind putting to rest, but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about!

congratulations on your new baby!

totally totally normal. i got annoyed by the paediatrician commenting on maya crossing her eyes on every visit up to 8 weeks, i can't remember but it happened more than once. she said, urgh, and then said it was normal. so why the urgh?
the first day she focused was about7 weeks, and was a wonderful morning.

Very normal, the cross eyed thing should correct it's self but they will check his 6-8 week check and the eye contact never happened for me til ds was about 7 weeks old. Even then everything was far too interesting for him to look at me unles he had to! I think they don't understand eye contact as they can't fully focus and also have no pre conceptions about how communicating should happen and how you should make eye contact etc. Don't worry!
