He is really good at entertaining himself which is good. I take him to various groups several times a week so he has lots of interation with other kids but he seems to prefer just pottering about playing on his own. Reassure me please?!

It's what DS did at that age! He is 3.5 now and going to pre-school and is just getting really into "friends" for thew first time

Totally normal. Until about 3ish, sometimes more, kids are very much in their own world and play round rather than with each other. Watch the others, I'm sure you'll see they're just the same. Being able to entertain himself at 2.5 is fab ds1 is 4 and still struggles!

I think it's quite normal and healthy - some children are more sociable than others, some take longer to develop the urge to play with others. DS1 wasn't at all interested in playing with other kids until he started Reception; DS2 has been much quicker to make proper 'friends'. It's partly temperament and partly being a second child, I think.

Anyway, nothing to worry about at all I'd say.

aw thanks for your reassurance. I know I am lucky! Mind you he would watch telly all day if I let him (which I don't and thats on a previous thread!)
