Ds is 5weeks old. We are co-'sleeping' as he will not settle anywhere. He is feeding almost constantly and I havent had more than 10hours sleep all week.
He slept an hour last night and had no sleep whatsoever today. He is putting on weight but never seems to be full.
Feel really sorry for dd cos she isnt getting the attention she needs because ds cries everytime I put him down

Your DS' behaviour is quite, quite normal.

Can you get someone to come and help you, and take to your bed for a couple of days and just feed DS and rest? That would help both of you.

Inlaws are back from their hols tomorrow so hopefully they wont mind having dd a couple of times next week. Tis so differnt, dd was nothing lik this. She disnt sleep much but wasnt this...er..,clingy I guess.

That sounds great - get your in laws to relieve you of DD and spoil her rotten and just REST with your DS in bed. He might be on a growth spurt which would explain why he would never be full?

He's been like this since birth. People have been saying it will get better once he turns 6 weeks but I'm not holding out much hope at the minute.
He has

finally

fallen

asleep!!!!!!!!!!!

are you using a sling in the day? if he is very sucky, is it worth trying a dummy? where is your DP>?

ToThrottleaRedRobin · 06/12/2008 14:47

Slings didnt work out. And, he wont take a dummy, have tried everything to get him to take one. Dp is out today but has been hleping out.

thre are lots of different styles of sling.. worth asking one of the baby wearing experts on here.. if you can just rest for a bit, with DD watching a bit of telly, and just lie down for a bit, hopefully that will help. the newborn & toddler combo is an exhausting one.

Hiya Throttle. As you probably know my ds was like this, thank god I only had one dc to think of but it was a nightmare. I just want you to know (I know you know but sometimes it helps to hear it!) that it does pass and it will get easier.

Your ds is still so young and you are doing great to be cosleeping and giving him what he needs.

My ds would never take as bloody dummy either which used to drive me nuts, but actually I am glad now as I didn't have to go through all the palava of plugging it back in during the night and weaning him off it etc.

Is he OK in the pushchair? Would he sleep in the pram if you take dd out to the park or something? That way dd gets quality time and ds gets sleep. Joe hated pushchair too so it was nearly impossible to get the little beggar to sleep but it did end and he sleeps lke an angel day and night now.

Good luck with everything, I know things are tough right now but seriously, it will get so much better. xxxx
