our 17month old has started crying and screaming when out in the car, its making it very difficult to go anywhere as partner cant concentrate on driving, which is very dangerous. havetried distration and food/drink but this only works for a short time. any ideas ?

Ignore it

She has learned that if she screams then she gets lots of fuss and attention

Put CD on, ZZ Top, and turn up loud

And remember, this is just a stage and it will pass

Good luck

It is a phase and will pass.

I would also ignore and turn the music up louder!

I also ignore and DD is pretty good. DH on the other hand gets very frustrated and finds it far more difficult (different brain wiring me thinks)

For long journeys, a DVD player and Cbeebies....i've just travelled from one end of the country to the other with my 17 month old doing this, and it worked a treat
