Different behaviour at night?

Hiya,
I need some advice about my 4-week old DD.
She sleeps goes 4 hours between feeds during the day, but only 2 1/2 or 3 during the night!?
Plus, after the night feeds she seems to 'strain' and her face goes red - as if she is trying to poo! But she doesn't do this in the day!

There are 3 things diffent during the night:
The Dark - but I don't think it's this.
The Silence - could this effect her?
The Cold - our bedroom is colder than the lounge during the day - could she be cold?

Also - any advice for getting her to sleep through the night - i've heard it can take months?

Thanks!

Hiya Tw1nkle, it can take a while for babies to sort out their night and day.. 4 weeks is still very little so she's probably not had a chance to work it out yet!

Re sleeping through the night - yes this can take a long time for some babies. My 11m old still wakes up once most nights. Actually, my 2 yr old still sometimes wakes up at night. Believe it or not you do adjust!

With the straining - could it be wind? Might be worth investing some time and effort into really thorough winding before bed time - see if that makes a difference.
