He's 2.6 and full of beans of course.
But, compared to friends' children, he really does seem reckless and has no fear.

Examples:
He ran off yesterday and we were quite near a road, luckily caught up with him.

Dived underneath our bed and whacked his head on bed legs.

Tries to climb everywhere, even though he knows it dangerous, banned in a lot of places and dangerous

I suppose he's normal, but any tips on how to deal with it? his speech is very good, but how do i know he's listening (he prob isn't??!) Also, feel bad about punishing him if he's had an accident or saying 'well, told you not to do that..'

Sorry, bit long!

I'm not going to be very help i guess and my ds 2.8 is exactly the same. only thing that has really worked is that i've made him, possibly, too scared of being squashed by a car so he is very good in car parks, walking next to roads etc. whenever he has gone to run off in a car park etc i've always, stopped him got down to his level and asked him if he wants to get squashed by a car as it would realy hurt and both him and i would be very sad.

Try talking to him when you know he is listening. Get down to his level and make sure he is looking at you when you speak to him.

I generally just let DS get on with it, so long as its not dangerous. If he hurts himself a bit he'll learn so hopefully won't do it next time.

Yeah, trouble is I do let him get on with it, but ds can turn the simplest thing into something dangerous!! You should have seen him with his fork earlier....

Thought I had gone too far and really terrified him about cars, but he wants to stand at THE VERY EDGE OF PAVEMENT and look at cars. Well, he can't.

Ta for tips. He will look away guiltily when I lecture him. Will insist on eye contact at all times!
