DD sitting up on her own - What next?

Dd is 5mo and is confidently sitting on her own for long periods of time. I am always sat with her and cushions around but no support is given.

How much longer will it take for her to learn to sit up by herself?

Have been catching her if she does fall but is it better for her to learn that if she falls she has to sort herself out? She has fallen once and screamed from shock.

Also, when did your lo start crawling?

Thanks

Mine was sitting at about 6 months then crawling by 8.By 9-10 she was cruising along furniture but took ages to get the confidence to walk (13 months!. When she was learning to sit I didn't let her fall at mine because we have hard floors but she soon learned to roll everywhere. Good luck. The fun starts now!!!

My ds could sit up at around 5.5 months, couln't get himself up into the sitting position though until around 8 months, crawled at 9 months, walked at 11 months, never stands still at 15 months!

Thanks, I have been looking forward to her doing more things - I can see I am going to regret that very soon

Mine are all but 10 months. One will sit himself up, slug around on his belly and roll over. The other one crawls, cant sit up himself unless he backs into the sofa and will not roll. He will, however, pull himslef to standing and career around hanging onto the sofa. I used to push them over at 5 mnths when they were on the bed so that they got used to balencing on their bum and realised falling over was not such a trauma. I madeit into a game.

Merlypuss - It must be interesting to see how they both develop and how similar/different they are. I guess when they are a little older they will copy each other and learn that way - So cute

Oh I still do the pushing ds over on the bed thing!!! He laughs his little head off! Sounds a bit cruel really , I swear he loves it though!

DS sat unaided at 5 months, crawled at 6, cruised at 7, he is now 8 months and beginning to stand up unaided and take 1 or 2 wobbly steps. Eek! Enjoy your non-mobile baby while it lasts!

Blimey Turtledove - I hope dd isnt that quick at learning things

She is loads more confident at sitting now - She no longer wants to lie down and play with her toys! She is growing up so fast
