My 18 week old breast fed son has always settled well at 7 until his feed and change at 11. He was sleeping till 5 or 6 then off again till we woke him at 7.30. In the last 2 weeks he has been consistently waking at around 10.30, 2.30 and 5.30, he seems to be whimpering a little and is perhaps in pain with teething. I'm wondering why he is waking at the same time every night. Is there anything I can do to settle him as Calpol ain't cutting it? I accept we have to ride it out but it seems like such a backward step and we're both exhausted!

Mine goes back and forth too. What you're describing now is what mine does on a good night! He's the same age and has been waking every 2-2.5 hours but then suddenly he went for longer last night (bed at 7, up at 9:30, 2:30, then up for the day at 5:45am). I think they have various growth spurts that can unsettle them. Is his temperature ok - not too hot/cold at various times of the night?

Just go with it and it will get better. If you think it really might be teeth, then you could try neurofen as that seems to be better for teeth for some reason. If that doesn't cut it, then it probably isn't teeth and is something else.

I think you can only give ibubrofen after 6 months. Hope you get some sleep soon.
