what are your 3.5 to 4 year olds saying

my twin boys are 3.7 yrs. Both are speaking well in my view but in the last couple of months ds1 has really started to have really detailed convrsations. For example the other day we were out and a man asked for directions. DS1 told his dad all about it when he got home , Mummy met a man , he was looking for a restaurant and Mummy told him to go up a hill, then turn left, then right etc etc
My ds2 is talking in up to 12 words in a sentance and tells what happened but doesnt have the same adult type fluency. MY get feeling is that ds1 is quite advanced but a bit worried that DS2 should be doing the same.Curious to know what other 3 to 4 year olds are doing

no, don't worry. They may be twins but they are individuals first and foremost and they will develop at their own pace. They both sound perfectly normal to me.

dd (3 1/2) has had a good grasp of language and full sentences from before the age of two. Recently we've started to notice more adult phrasiong creeping in. For example, at dinner instead of say she's had enough to eat or is finished she would say "I can't manage any more ". She can talk well and be pretty detailed in her understanding and expression, but only at times and to people with whom she is a very comfortable.

Dd, who will be four in June, also sounds really grown-up when she talks. Her sentences rather than her pronunciation!

Do yuor almost 4 year olds still sometimes get their words coming out not quite right...from dd yesterday we had "Mummy, my ice-cream is really malicious!" Not quite what she intended I think

Ds1 (4 next week) can carry on pretty complicated conversations now, and often uses fairly adult expressions. He has always been fairly strong on language skills. Ds2 (nearly 2) is way behind where Ds1 was at the same age (though clearly understands everyone else).

Ds (3and3/4) speaks very adultly - for example, this evening he came upstairs after we had all abandoned him downstairs and said 'Mum, I suddenly discovered I was all on my own'. His sentences can be interminably long (I sometimes wonder if we'll ever reach the end!). He was quite a slow speaker, but once he got going he really flew. Looking back at video from 18 months ago, he was still speaking in 1 or 2 word chunks - 'jump' 'drink' , 'Daddy jump' 'Daddy work' etc. He is able to articulate things that have happened very clearly - he saw a lamb being born at the weekend and said 'The sheep was having a lamb, but the lamb got stuck and the shepherd put on his glove and helped the lamb out.'

Tbh, I think they are all different, and it must be very difficult with twins not to compare. Sounds like your ds2 is doing brilliantly anyway, to have sentences up to 12 words!
