Toddler phobia

My DD(2.1) has started getting really really upset if doors are closed or she is shut in.

We were at my friends house for lunch today for first time and she got so upset in her hallway that she was sick everywhere. She eventually calmed down and was quite happy in the sittingroom but cried any time she went into the hall. The other day my friend was round with her kids and shut the door to keep them in the sittingroom and she got hysterical again. She also won't stay in toddlers if she notices the door is closed.

Is this just a phase that will pass or is there anything we can do? She used to be terrified of air vents but that did pass. She is otherwise very happy and confident so i just don't understand it.

Hope someone can help as it's making life difficult just now!

TIA

I must add that its not like a temper tantrum because she wants out of the door, its like sheer terror!!

it's most likely a phase.

Toddlers are at a prime age for phobias and they tend to be about weird stuff.

It will pass and it is her age. They develop some weird hysterical dislikes.

thanks, that is reassuring. Just haven't come across it before!
