How long does this "I don't want to!!!!" phase last...

....don't say until they leave home!

DD is 2.5 and every single request or suggestion from me if met with "I don't want to!!" but she won't tell me what she DOES want so may I just have a little ARRRRRGGGGGHHHH because its driving me mad. Its not a tantrummy I don't want to, its just an adamant reply so what do I do?

Is it a girl thing then? I thought I had at least until she was three until she started bossing me around, I suppose I should be grateful that I am a "girl" and therefore lovely and princesslike in DD's eyes, whereas DH is a "BOY" and isn't allowed to do anything. I'm starting to suspect she is hanging around with too many three year olds at nursery
