Refusing main course but will eat pudding/fruit

DD is just getting over a nasty cold and started comfort eating whilst she was ill - a spoonful of main course then all of pudding. I wasn't so fussed whilst she was sick, but the habit seems to have carried on and so she'll eat main sometimes but sweet stuff any time. The nursery staff bring over main and pudding to the room at the same time, so when she sees pudding she won't eat her main course. Any suggestions for guiding her back towards savoury food without causing a food battle?

Don't offer pudding at a few meals when she is at home, to try and get her used to not having it. Or let her help you prepare some fun savoury food, like smiley face pizza with veg on top to make the face, or little cubes of cheese and sausages and things on a kebab, and things like that. I don't know what she has as pudding, but at least fruit would be a healthy option if she won't eat main. I'm not sure what you can do about the nursery though.

DS1 was like this after a chest infection. I "fooled" him into eating savoury again but dipping the spoon in savoury and then sweet food on the tip so he'd taste the sweet, open wide for it before he realised it was savoury .

also he will do anything for sausages in any form so that is always my standby.

(BD - just to say there is a post for you in the breastfeeding forum btw)
