BITING!

Our 11 month old has suddenly developed a bit of a nasty side in that he has started to bite (HARD!!), when I pick him up he bites my shoulder and I don't need to explain why I've stopped breast feeding! Is this normal/usual being as he's suddenly got teeth?

my Ds is the same age and has started the same thing - I think they are just learning how to use their teeth? not nice though - I have to try and stay calm while removing his fangs from my flesh and dissuade him from doing it again. He is getting better though - he's been doing it for about 4 weeks and is stopping when I say Stop now. (am still bf'ing though - and I swore i would stop if I ever got bitten!)

Ds did this. (Also biting my shoulder) It went on for a long time and he almost always only bit me (occasionally his sisters, too)

I tried a stern no, putting him away from me, getting cross, and almost everything else I could think of. (I never bit him back despite it being suggested alot)

He stopped when I totally ignored it....not easy when he was actually drawing blood on occasion, but I stuck with it and can't remember the last time he did it.

Good luck

the one I find fascinating is where he draws my finger into his mouth and then slowly closes his teeth onto it, increasing the pressure until I yelp or pull it away - then he grins at me with his evil fangy grin! I know, I shouldn't even let him put my finger in his mouth...
he has bitten my chin a couple of times too - that's an interesting one...
